Ballet is the basis of all dance styles. It helps students to achieve balance,
control, strength and discipline. It is a form of dance that is graceful with
"Pirouettes" (turns) and "Grand Jetes" (leaps) and includes base of theatrical
dance through Mime and Demi Character work. Such productions for example would
be "Sleeping Beauty" or "Swan Lake".
Classes start in Test 1 and continue
through to Advanced with the Avril Binzer Performance Award and Scholarships,
if eligible through examination.

Jazz incorporates all styles from
modern, historical, hip hop and lyrical. Students will be educated in safe
dance techniques. If students wish to proceed and complete all levels available
they will emerge as well rounded dancers who, if wishing to seek a profession
in dance, have been prepared for professional auditions.
This is the perfect class
for kids who love to dance and boogie to the latest popular songs! They not
only get to pick up lots of groovy choreography but also learn how to perform
like a superstar. Popular songs from all their favourite shows like High School
Musical, Hannah Montana, The Cheetah Girls, Hi-5 and lots more will be used
in this fun and exciting class.
Our pre-school classes
have been developed to introduce children between the ages of 3 and 4 to the
element of dance through play and creativity. Students will be encouraged
to paint pictures to decorate the studio to the themed classes.
Classes cater for girls and boys
who will be sure to leave at the end of a class with a smile on their face
and a dance in their soul.
Mummy and Me classes are especially
designed for children between the ages of 2 and 4 and is aimed to help Mums,
Dads or caregivers to share in the magical and imaginative world of dance
through their child's eyes. This play dance is an introduction to the basis
of Jazz, Tap and Classical Ballet. Classes will be themed through the term,
for example Under the Sea. The students and participating parents will spend
time creating pictures to decorate the dance studio as well as making their
own musical instruments. These will be incorporated into related dance exercises
such as mermaids sitting on a rock, or jellyfish swirling through the sea.
This is a very special time to share with your children.
Examinations and Assessments
are available for all Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet and Pre-school classes.
A qualified Examiner comes to the studio to assess students on syllabus work.
It is rewarding way for students and parents to receive feedback on the student's
dance progress. Students who partake in Examinations receive a detailed report
and medal on completion of each exam.
